After leaving Oxford University in 1980, Steve accepted a position with Du Pont  in their Medical Division. After 2 successful years he was moved to the European HQ in Germany where he held a number of positions from Business Analyst to Product and Marketing Manager, eventually running a $100m global division within their Printing and Publishing business.

Steve was then approached by London International Group and returned to the UK as European Commercial Director for their Surgical gloves Division (Biogel), quickly moving to the position of Managing Director for EMEA and Asia Pacific. Following a merger with Seton Scholl Healthcare, Steve took over as MD of SSL International for Northern and Eastern Europe, a broad portfolio including FMCG, Shoe shops and pharmacy sales along with keeping responsibility for the enlarged Medical Division.

Steve left SSL to run a group of family owned printing and publishing companies in Lancashire before becoming part of an MBO/MBI Team that bought the Surgical Gloves division from SSL, taking Regent Medical private. The business then merged with Molnlycke Health Care and Medlock Medical with Steve taking over the global Regent operation of some 2,200 people.

In 2007 Steve decided to leave Molnlycke and is now involved in a number of ventures including Software, Cloud applications, Health and Safety, 3D Printing and Mining, as well as coaching and mentoring a number of owner/managers of SMEs. Jonathan Day
Jonathan DayManaging Director
After graduating with a Ph.D.  in Polymer Chemistry in 2000, Jonathan worked in technical textiles before joining Biogel parent company, Regent Medical, in 2005. Assuming the role of Global Head of Research at Biogel, he oversaw the launch of a number of key Biogel products and played a key role in the development of Biogel’s commercial strategy during the period.

Having witnessed strategic moves by established brands to reposition surgical gloves as a commodity item within the surgical product assortment, Jonathan founded Leanvation, partnering with Tony Downes and Steve King to launch the business in 2013.

“Time spent with clinicians across the globe taught me about the unique relationship that healthcare workers have with their surgical gloves. Far from being a commodity, they are one of the most important medical devices in the OR. Our dedication to the surgical gloves market and to listening to the needs of the healthcare community aims to recognise that. Just as we recognise that our greatest asset is the people in our team.”.

A founder director of Leanvation, Tony is successful in working with and developing high performing sales, marketing and finance teams and has been highly instrumental in establishing the strategic direction and financial strength of the business.

“Understanding customer need is central to the Leanvation business and that is why we have pulled together a team of consummate professionals with over 40 years of experience in servicing the surgical gloving community. At Leanvation we know just how important glove comfort and protection are to you. We also know that hospitals have limited storage space and would like to rationalise their stock holding. Leanvation offer all of these advantages in a simple, high quality, three glove range – with Leanvation, three gloves are all you need.”
